Sorry to be so long in posting this - hectic week, compounded by being sick. There was a lot of enthusiasm at the meeting, I want to keep the ball rolling. A few people have written me off-list, too, to say they couldn't make it but are interested. I'll send this out by email too to catch the people who aren't members of the tribe, pass aroung the email address list.

-Denise said she'd scope out the Oakland Amtrak station. Denise, we eagerly await your appraisal.

-someone - I think it was Nicoles's friend - knew about a cool, easy hack on... er... was it Angel Island? Tresasure Island? Sorry, I've got a head full of cold medicine. Anyway, everybody thought this sounded like a good first hack to go on as a group. Does whoever it was who's been there want to pick a date?

-there was interesting talk about the Presidio Hospital. Sounds like security is too tight to do as a group but the knowledge is floating around amongst us for anyone who wants to know more.

-Tristan gave some links to his websites: www.loupiote.com, www.phsh.org, www.playa-dust.com, www.zone-tour.com. This gave me an idea... Tristan, I do photography too and I wouldn't be surprised if there are others among us - would you be interested in leading an urban exploration photography outing to some of the areas you know about? That "ghostyards" gallery is wonderful, it might be nice to get a few people together to go shoot somewhere cool and then see the different aspects that people capture of it.

-there was a lot of interesting talk in general. Love to do this again. I think whether we get something together soon or not we should meet again in a few weeks, just to keep the ball rolling.

hey, good to hear from you, I was wondering where everyone had gotten off to...haven't gotten any mail...did I make a typo when I put my address on the list?

The second hack was the asylum/TB ward (depending on who you ask) on angel island...there's also some a missile battery out there (an apollo was it?) that I seem to recall hearing was an easy strike...don't remember much more than that though.

I did some research on AI, I was gonna head out and do a little recon with some friends last weekend. Turns out the ferry from the city only runs at like 10 am (per my research at least). The one from Tiburon ostensibly runs all day, but then you're looking at transport from various points in the area to tiburon....so we'd either have to meet at the piers in the city just before 10 (930?) or maybe all agree to meet at a point on the island or in tiburon....I'm thinking the city would be the easiest logistically since there's a defined point (the ferry terminal) we could meet that should be easy to find....don't know how well it would work with people's scheduling though.
I'm thinking the island would be more challenging since most of us have never been there and picking a point to meet would be rather difficult.
Tiburon would probably be the worst since we're looking at flex in times AND location.
All we need is a date?
I'll leave that to someone who's been there before and knows the site.

I'm big into photography, it's one of my prime motivators in UE (one of ;p) I'd love to get a chance to do a decent shoot at a good site.
I'd definately be down for anything like this...anyone else?

Definately think we should meet again soonish....last week of feb, first week of march?

Nope, I'm running on Mike Standard Time again. I'm gonna send the email now. :-) Quick comments: I'm an avid photographer too, looking at Tristan's pictures put me in mind of a UE photo expedition as well. Angel island ferry: wait a minute... you mean there's a ten o'clock in the *morning*, also? Actually I think that' s the winter schedule, maybe they run more frequently once it gets nicer out? There's access by private boat as well, but unfortunately my yacht is in dry dock, has anyone else got one? Another meeting: yes!
