Abandoned Train Stations?

Hello everybody,

I am trying to create a list of abandoned train stations nationwide. I've already got the ones in Detroit, Oakland, and Fort Worth, but I'm wondering what else you all might recommend?

In particular, I am interested in the grand lobby or concourse area, spaces that are large and majestic, but definitely abandoned or falling apart.

What places have I not yet thought about?
And do you have interior photographs of the places?
Or links to websites of photographs?

Thank you!

There's the old B & O station in Cleveland's Flats, West Bank, sans tracks. The building still stands missing a few turrets, etc. -- result of a long-ago fire I believe. There has been talk about turning it into some sort of museum honoring the many immigrants who arrived in Cleveland via the B & O.

15 or 20 years ago I read that there are 10 levels of subways in NYC, with only the top 5 still in use. I remember back in '91 riding through midtown on a line that I knew to be down on the 5th level, and there was a slowdown, and in the middle of the tunnel, we passed a doorway besides the tracks... with a stairwell downwards... and a light on. [drooool]

But what about the Mole people? Seriously. The people that live down there don't like surface dwellers messin around in the tunnels. If anyone has ever been down there... please do tell.

Hey man. I am very interested in the abandoned train stations, and other places. I just recently explored the old tuna packing plant down near hunter's point. My buddy and I have beeen scoping out the old presidio hospital looking for a way in. I've been in the bay area for 7 months now. Moved up from LA where I had explored old houses and a cool abandoned oil refinery. You can check out the photos at my site.

Try searching for the abandoned Rochester Subway. Rochester NY is one of several smaller cities to have built and abandoned subways in the early 1900's (Buffalo and Cincinnati also I believe). Check rochestersubway.com for some pics and video of the Rochester Subway tunnel. The stations have been mostly dismantled but there are pictures out there.
