Hi,
are there any parisians out there? I am looking for fellow urban explorers to roam the entropic side of the City of Lights and its industrial surroundings.
The problem is that I'm a girl. Positively not very strong or tough, but I'm not afraid of physical perils as much as of human ones: the people who haunt such places aren't usually of the gentle kind. I'm especially interested in photography, but I've got nothing against leisurely vadding too.
I already belong to a "cataphile" group but they are not interested in "surface" exploration. Who's in for a walk?

Re: Parisians urban explorers(-photographers)?
Fri, March 12, 2004 - 12:28 PMIt's too bad nobody wants to go for a walk in Paris. Paris is the best city for walking.
My husband and I had some walk ideas. Here's one:
map a route across Paris which does not cross in front of a single boulangerie (or on which you would not see a single boulangerie--harder)
Several years ago I used to occasionally go to a bar in the courtyard of an architecture school in the 19e. It would be fun to try to find it again. It had been built by students there and was student-run.
I would like to walk la petite ceinture, but I feel like that might be intruding on the people who live there.
Here's a nice thing very close to your house, but maybe difficult to see: In the courtyard of 28 rue du Soleil, there is a beautiful garden full of towering hollyhocks which were brought there as seeds by a former tenant (a crazy little old lady) from ile de Re about 20 or 30 years ago. They are in full bloom by June, usually.
It's fun to just walk out into the suburbs. Depaysant.

Sun, March 2, 2008 - 7:47 PMThere's a small change I might be in Paris for a few days this month... don't know, depends on finances. Love to do some exploring if I'm there, though. -

Sun, March 2, 2008 - 9:56 PMMike, I can probably hook you up. I know a couple of Aussies exploring in Paris right now and my friend here in Montreal goes there to explore about twice a year. Let me know. Sadly none of them are on tribe, they're all crackbookers.
